Woodstock Mountain Bike Fellowship

About Woodstock Mountain Bike Fellowship

In the fall of 2005, a group of frequent riders at Blankets Creek Mountain Bike Area found that, in addition to sharing an interest in mountain biking, they also shared a love for Jesus Christ. Building on this commonality and recognizing the needs of the growing population of riders at Blankets Creek, they decided to form the "Woodstock Mountain Bike Fellowship."

The group has focused their energies on three objectives:

  1. Serve members of the biking community in tangible ways.
  2. Meet other riders and expose them to the life changing message of Jesus Christ.
  3. Provide opportunities for Christian riders to connect so that they can sharpen one another physically and spiritually.

In addition to providing a riding network, the group occasionally holds fellowship events at one of the local mountain biking areas. A typical event usually includes a competitive game or contest, a bike-related presentation to build on the bikers' skills and knowledge, a devotional that is directly connected to the theme of the biking presentation, lunch or dinner, and group rides for various skill levels.

Due to the quality of its trails and its proximity to Atlanta, Blankets Creek is one of the busiest mountain bike areas in the country. On a typical weekend, over a thousand people ride the trails, providing a great opportunity for service and ministry. Once a month, the Bike Fellowship group sets up canopies at the park area and spends the day serving drinks, performing minor repairs, and giving direction to new riders.

In order to stay focused on their ministry objectives, the Bike Fellowship team has chosen a Messianic Psalm for their key verse: Psalm 45:4 – "ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility, and righteousness." In our relativistic world, the group strives to expose riders to the truth of the gospel, humbly serve them, and share together in the righteousness that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
